MetLink will automatically sign you out after 30 minutes
of inactivity. As with many secured web applications,
MetLink provides this feature in order to ensure your
data is secured and protect you from potential access
by an unauthorized individual. |

Challenge
questions |

Challenge questions are two verification questions to
which only you know the answer. You select these questions
during the registration process. The answers to these
questions are used to reset your password and confirm
your identity. We recommend that you do not share the
answers to your questions with anyone. |

General security |
|
We recommend that you do not share your username, password
or challenge questions with anyone. Make sure that you
do not use a word that can be easily associated with you,
or numbers in a series. If additional user access for
the MetLink site is required, please contact your MetLife
Representative.
When you have finished using the website, you should use
the “Sign Out” button to leave MetLink. It
is also recommended that you close the web browser to
ensure no information remains in your computer’s
memory. |

Locked account |
|
You have three chances to enter your password correctly.
For security purposes and your protection, if the third
attempt fails you will be locked out and unable to access
your account. If this occurs, please call 877-9METWEB
(877-963-8932). You will be asked to verify your two previously
defined challenge questions. Once your identity is verified,
you will be able to create a new password. |

Password
expiration |
|
Password expiration is part of our continuing review
of security best practices and as part of our implementation
of requirements of HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act) and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Based on
our company password standards, you will be required to change
your password upon expiration every 180 days. |

Password
security |
|
MetLink provides you with the ability to choose your
own unique username and password upon registration. Passwords
are case-sensitive and can't be the same as your User
Name. The username must be 8 to 20 characters and contain
at least two letters and one number. The password must
be 6 to 20 characters and contain at least one letter
and one number.
We recommend that you do not share your password with
anyone. Make sure that you do not use a word that can
be easily associated with you, or numbers in a series.
If you feel your Password has been compromised, you should
change your Password. Access your profile by pressing
the "Profile" icon located in the top right
navigation area of the MetLink homepage. Click 'edit'
to access the change password screen.
If you do not have access to a computer, please call 877-9METWEB
(877-963-8932). Once your identity is verified, we will
reset your password. |
